What now???

The Covid-19 quarantine was a time like no other. Inspiring some, isolating some and finding love for others in the form of adoption. Dogs contribute to both our physical and mental health and with the world sheltering in place we finally had the time to indulge these relationships.

Initially, adoptions soared as good samaratins sought to clear out shelters. Even greater increases were seen in fostering for the same reasons. Then, as Americans realized that they would be working and learning from home for the long haul, and their travel would be reduced, they sought adoption for personal reasons.

As this trend continues not only pet shelters but stores and breeders, as well, have found themselves in short supply to meet the demand for dogs in some locations.

So, what now? There are two possible scenerios. Some project that the shelters will become overburdened again as people return to work and school and need to relinquish their fur babies. Others believe that this shortage of dogs will be a trend that continues as Americans become increasingly dog-centric. So what now?

Home Dog Home of course!
